JSUMC Initial EMT Class 2022 Registration Closed

Course Description- PLEASE READ IN IT'S ENTIRETY! 

This course is designed to instruct a student to the level of EMT-Basic, who serves as a vital link in the chain of the health care team. It is recognized that most prehospital emergency medical care will be provided by the EMT-Basic. This course includes all skills necessary for the individual to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized service.

This is a rigorous program of classroom instruction, practical skills, evaluations, and homework assignments. The student must also complete 10 hours of clinical skills in a hospital emergency room, 5 hours in a respiratory rotation and 24 hours of ride along time with partnered EMS agencies. To successfully complete this course and to take the NREMT, the student must obtain a grade of 70% on all tests. All absences must be made up prior to taking the state exam. No absences may be removed from the student's record.  

Eligibility to take the course:

All applicants must have reached their 16th birthday prior to the start of the course. Anyone under the age of 18 must also provide a letter from their parents granting them permission to attend the course.

Prerequisite:

As a prerequisite, you must have completed a CPR course at the Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer level. The CPR certification must be valid throughout the course. Call the life support training center at 732-776-4470 to inquire about CPR classes. 

Tuition & Fees

Full payment is required on the first class.   We accept the NJ EMT Training Fund for prospective students who are a member of a volunteer EMS agency.  This form must be completed, sign and turned in before or on the first day of class You can find a copy of the needed EMT Training Fund Form on the learning management system.  Textbooks and online access to the learning management system and associated lab fees is required.  The cost is a non-refundable $500, and this is not covered by the training fund. Previously purchased books or codes will not be honored.

A blood pressure cuff is available for purchase on the first day of class for $15, cash or checks only. 

Refunds:

No refunds will be issued after the third scheduled class.   Books, blood pressure cuffs are non-refundable. 

Confirmation of documents: 
Registration is not complete until link in confirmation email is followed and forms are completed. Any problems with the link or questions about the forms, please contact the program administrator at 732-776-4470. 

The syllabus will be provided on the first day of class

Codes to by-pass payments:
"Check" - To use this option, personal check must be in office 14 days prior to start of class.
"PO"- To provide department Purchase Order. PO must be in the office 14 days prior to class starting.

"JSTF"- to provide a training fund form. You will be asked to upload a completed, typed training fund form in registration paperwork in confirmation email. Form must be completed according to directions found on the form and will not be accepted without a wet signature in blue ink. Physical copy must be provided on first day of class. $500 due at registration. 

"PaymentPlan"- for use to establish a payment plan for cost of course. $500 dollars due at registration.
